We note with interest that our old friend Harold Camping who has given us so much to write about, and about whom we expect to write once more in three weeks when his prophecy fails again, has been awarded this year’s Ig Nobel prize for his end of the world predictions in 1994 and 2011.

Harold shared the award with

  • Dorothy Martin (1954);
  • Pat Robertson (1982);
  • Elizabeth Clare Prophet ( 1990);
  • Lee Jang Rim (1992);
  • Shoko Asahara (1997);
  • Credonia Mwerinde ( 1999)

Apparently, as this shared award for teaching the world to be careful when making mathematical assumptions and calculations went to individuals only rather than organizations, the Jehovah’s Witnesses did not make the cut.
