Guns and the Second Coming

We live in an area of the U.S. in which both guns and the Bible are regarded as sacred. This past week my wife and I attended a gun-safety class at the County Courthouse in which one’s “right to self defense” was a recurringly emphasized theme, especially in the case of an intruder entering one’s home at night. Imagine then our thoughts when while driving home from the class we saw the message: “He shall come like a thief in the night”[1] posted outside a local church. What else could we conclude other than that he had damned well not come anywhere around here!
