Marriage as originally intended makes women property

If we are truly protecting marriage for its original intentions I think I would have to be based on women agreeing to be part of some kind of property exchange to strengthen the tribe or merge a power within family. I believe my father might get a goat or a cow, or if very lucky, some gold in exchange.
I’m hoping marriage has now progressed to a true partnership where two people want to commit to
sharing a life together. I for one don’t
want to be in a marriage as it was originally intended.
