Having reprimanded priests for thinking for themselves, the Pope has now turned his attention to nuns. He has commenced a doctrinal investigation into the Leadership Conference of Women Religious which represents over 90% of the nuns in the USA. Apparently, they are too liberal in their views on female ordination, homosexuality, and women’s health issues for the authoritarian Pope. The nerve of these mere women! Daring to exercise independent thought! It’s time to really clamp down.
Meanwhile, a separate Vatican investigation into US nuns which has been going on a little longer is trying to determine why the number of nuns is shrinking.
Can no-one in the Vatican add two and two? Probably not without the Pope’s personal permission.
