Meditation 38
by Chris Morgan
There well may be no contemporous writitngs outside of the Gospel accounts, as there are not contemporous writings for Socrates (in fact non at all, as : far as I am aware, though my ignorance is quite extensive!) outside of the : works of Plato. Who would doubt Socrates existed? Nobody! Then again how : can you prove the existence of a great many people in history, where the details of their lives are only recorded after the event or by second hand witnesses?
It seems that scholars are in the majority in accepting the historicity of Jesus, although this does not answer the question of his divinity. And of course there will always be people who doubt.
