A Miscellany 137
by Will Petillo
A man lived happily in his house until one day when he decided to go off on a journey. But before he left, the thought occurred to him that perhaps he should take an umbrella. He asked a theist, “Should I take an umbrella with me when I go outside?”
The theist replied, “Take an umbrella, for if it rains and you do not have one then you will get wet.”
The man then asked an atheist, “Should I take an umbrella with me when I go outside?”
The atheist replied, “Do not take an umbrella, for if the sky is clear then you will be unnecessarily burdened.”
The man then asked an agnostic, “Should I take an umbrella with me when I go outside?”
The agnostic looked at the man quizzically and replied, “Why are you going outside?”
