Atheism, theism, and agnosticism

The main problem with defining the differences and any sort of probabilities of accuracy between theists, atheists, and agnostics is that the focus usually stays on a specific god belief. God as an intelligent supernatural creator is actually just one limited concept of a supernatural cause for existence. Theists define their version of god and atheists reject those specific definitions. I also believe atheism as the antithesis of theism rejects all supernatural causes for the universe.

Agnosticism was defined by Huxley to put a name to the acknowledgement that we do not know, and perhaps cannot know, the origin of the universe. By not knowing we acknowledge it could be a natural or supernatural cause we don’t understand. The supernatural cause doesn’t even have to be intelligent by our standards. However, I believe agnosticism agrees with the atheists that theists don’t know what they’re talking about and are ignorant in their claims of knowledge. I place the probability that a fellow human knows how the universe got here as so small that it’s not worth trying to calculate.

In short, theism and atheism argue about gods as specific definitions of a creator, while agnosticism steps back to the view of all of existence and says we have no real idea how it all got here like this.
