Talk Back 74
by George M. Sullivan
Regarding the article proposing existence of evil being the absence of God:
Being absent is not a very convincing excuse for a God whose attributes (presumably beneficial) include omniscience (all-knowing), omnipotence (all-powerful), and, here’s the clincher, omnipresent (the quality of being everywhere at the same time).
The dryness of these concepts is relieved by metaphorical flights of poetic descriptions of God in various manifestations as a light, a whirlwind, and so on. His meddlesome tendencies are well documented in the (infallible, literally true accounts of various Holy books), so lack of interest is no excuse either. (He famously dotes on sparrows.)
